Just one of these days I want to be the one to break the story that someone strolled down the red carpet with a replica purse. I would die after that, a success, certain that I have the keenest eye for replica bags of anyone in the world.

With simple small town girls like “Lost” star Evangeline Lilly strolling down the red carpet this past week in Cannes, who is known to strut the streets in $40 outfits back home in Kelowna BC, Canada, I figure, maybe, just maybe it could happen one day. Among the Nouveau Riche you never do know. There is a frugal girl at the heart of us all.

Was Evangeline’s Nordstrom Square Crystal clutch (pictured above) a fake? Was Claudia Schiffer’s signature Chanel clutch a fake? Not bloody likely ladies. But wouldn’t that be a fun little fact to uncover?

The thing about it is the Cannes Film Festival is the last place anyone would expect to find a replica purse, meaning it might be the easiest place to get away with it, with perhaps the most dreadful consequences if it were ever revealed. The whole idea makes me giggle, and almost makes me want to try it out! (I just need to find a way onto the red carpet in the first place is all).

At a formal event like the Cannes festival it is all about the clutch. Without a shoulder bag in site for miles and the gowns taking all the attention (and what do you really need to carry into a film screening anyway), it was all about the subtle, complimentary clutch at this week’s festival. Besides Lilly and Schiffer (who’s lovely hands are pictured above) girls like Angelina Jolie, Penelope Cruz and Rachel Weisz all clutched eye catching, if subtle, very tasteful, small, and definitely not replica, purses.

If I’m heading out to a formal event, (and yes girls, I may not hit the carpet at Cannes, but I do go to my share of galas!) I always focus my outfit around an LV or Chanel replica clutch.
