A lot of people ask me about eBay, and whether or not shopping for handbags on eBay is a good idea. Don’t get me wrong, I shop on eBay sometimes for certain vintage fashion items and other knickknacks, but I am more than a little wary of supporting eBay handbag sellers. eBay is just crawling with people claiming to be selling authentic Louis Vuitton handbags, when in fact they are selling over-priced replicas that aren’t even very good. In fact, almost all handbags on eBay are replica handbags. Even reputable sellers sell replicas. At the peak of my replica seller days I had many clients who were power sellers on E-bay. I sold them the white multicolore speedy for $200 and they sold it on E-bay as the real thing for literally $2000-$5000. (In those days people would pay anything to get their hands on a Murakami Speedy).
The only place you can buy real Louis Vuitton handbags (unless it is used) is from the official Louis Vuitton website or boutique, and that’s a fact. A few years ago, eBay made it illegal to sell replica handbags. This only caused replica sellers to start labeling their replicas as authentic. With the “authentic” label, they were suddenly able to sell their cheap replicas for way more money to unsuspecting customers. The funny thing is the buyers wanted so much to believe that they had really found discounted authentic Louis Vuitton that they started to believe the lie. There are tons of buyers who have happily laid out $1500 or more for a replica handbag that is not worth more than $200. It’s almost as if they like getting scammed.
Here’s an anecdote to illustrate what I’m talking about. Recently, a concerned handbag lover brought this eBay Louis Vuitton handbag to my attention: http://cgi.ebay.com/AUTH-LOUIS-VUITTON-Damier-TREVI-PM-bag-EXT_W0QQitemZ200429770889QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_CSA_WH_Handbags?hash=item2eaa8b9889 They pointed out that the lining was a different color than the lining of the same bag that’s featured on ReplicaVision.com- site that I rated very highly for quality. She assumed incorrectly that the Ebay bag was authentic and that the Replicavision.com replica handbag was the incorrect colour. This was rather shocking until I took a closer look at the bag on eBay and realized that this supposed “real” Louis Vuitton handbag was in fact a much worse fake than the one on the replica site.
In fact, there were several things wrong with the bag on eBay. In addition to having an inaccurate color on the inside, it also featured a printed serial number rather than a heat embossed one, and a cell-phone pocket rather than an iPhone/Blackberry pocket. If you want to see for yourself, visit Louisvuitton.com, and click on their “E-Shopping” section. Then choose, Women >> Handbags >> Shoulder bags and Totes >>Damier Ebene Canvas, and finally click on Sistina GM. Zoom in on the lining and you’ll see for yourself that the eBay bag is a very pathetic replica. This only further fueled my opinion that buying handbags on eBay is just never a good idea.
In spring 2008, eBay was forced to pay $63,000,000 to Louis Vuitton over the claim that they didn’t do enough to stop the sale of replica handbags on their site. There have been similar cases with Hermes and Coach. According to eBay, they have over 2000 employees whose sole function is to seek out counterfeiters and remove their listings, but examples like the one above prove that even if this is true, they aren’t doing nearly enough to stop these people from ripping us off. This is why I can’t stress enough: if you’re looking for a great luxury handbag at a good price, go with replica sites. That’s the only way to know what you’re ordering. There are certainly replica sites that are shady as well, but if you stick to the reputable ones—check out our site reviews section—you can rest assured that you’re getting your money’s worth, and aren’t buying something less than what is advertised.

Hi Sofia, I am looking at the ebay link you posted and I don’t see how this one is a pathetic replica like you said. IF anything, it is a better replica than the one seen in Replicavision. Are we looking at the same item here? The one for sale in the ebay link is the Damier Ebene Trevi PM. But you told us to go look at the Sistina GM in official LV website. I went to LV website to take a look at the interior lining of the Trevi PM, color is bright orangy red, which is about the same color in the ebay one. The one in the replicavision has pinkish lining. I do’nt know how much of the lighting/difference brightness in each monitor display play a part in this but the one in the ebay link definitely is a better replica than one in repliavision.

I hear what you are saying but I happen to know that the interior of those bags is raspberry in colour. The lighting in different pictures makes it look different but it is definitely raspberry. All Damier Ebene have the same colour interior it is not like the make the Trevi different from the Sistina. The correct colour is somewhere between Red and burgandy. The one on replicavision does look a tinybit on the burgandy side it is true in that picture but I have received actual bags from them and they are the closest to the real colour I have ever seen. That Orangy Red shown on Ebay though-Way off -not the real colour at all.

Ipurseworld looks pretty unprofessional I think there are better options out there. But it is very cheap so if what you are looking for is a cheap replica it might not be all bad. Bare in mind though you will not get the quality of the real thing for that price.

It looks to me that their images are stolen. I found images with the watermark for ruwayhandbags.net and images with the watermark for cnreplicas.com. This is generally a bad sign because you don’t know what you are buying. Also their return policy is unclear which is a big warning sign for me. That having been said the site has good functionality and they do accept credit cards so it is highly unlikely that they are a complete fraud. Its a risk but if you can’t find the item that you want on another site it might be worth it. Just protect yourself by paying by credit card.
The “experts” on tPF nearly gave it the above auction a stamp of authenticity, here was their response, “Looking good pending clearer close ups of the LV engraved on strap’s clip and LV heatstamp on strap.”
I was only skeptical of it being fake, because the seller sells AUTHENTIC Chanel.
Its hard to trust anyone online. I would never buy anything authentic on the internet. It’s just too big of an investment to run the risk of getting ripped off.

That looks like a pretty good site and one I would like to review. Its a little bit on the cheap side and to be honest you can actually see in the pictures that the leather is a bit cheap. It’s not AAA quality replica. It is a great cheap option though. It looks like they are conscious to put all the correct markings and include all the necessary parts. The pictures seem to be original and include all the angles. They site is well developed and it seems they have been around for a long time so if you are looking for a cheaper option this seems like a great one. Not my thing I prefer to spend a little more and get something better but I will definitely review this site when I have to buy a gift for someone.

I buy real sunglasses @ Nordstrom off the rack or Saks off 5th, they are incredibly cheap and the same price as replicas for the REAL DEAL. I am an ardent collector of Juicy, but I find with names like Juicy and Coach, they are affordable at their prices in general and those types of replicas that are worth buying are very hard to find.
As for Louis’ and other higher end brands, I’d stick to the replica sites. I was doing a search online after being horribly ripped off with the worst replica ever made and came across your blog. I hope you don’t mind but I must warn you since one of the sites someone left was the site that ripped me off.

They do not give any indication that they are fakes. They steal the photos and descriptions from the real sites and claim they are #1 in that product.
Even if you are looking for a good fake stay away. I was not looking for a fake but if it even had arrived in useable condition I wouldn’t be so angry.
My item arrived NOTHING like the site promised. It was so badly done it was falling apart. It was also damaged beyond use and that happened before it left their thief shop.
The owner does absolutely nothing but play mind games with you and accuse you of trying to cheap them when you want a refund. And they want you to spend more money to get your money back. It’s insane and down right sickening.
It got to the point that I was begging and I mean begging for my money back. Which is something they really seem to enjoy and of course I never got it and never will.
