The idea it seems is to bring the luxury designer to the masses. There are tons of surprises in the collection from a whole clothing line (a first for Jimmy Choo) some super chic shoes, and a range of clutches that are apparently going to be cheaper than Jimmy Choo replica currently are. What gives?

While this is quite a surprise to me, given that Jimmy Choo purses usually run more in the LV or Chanel price range, it’s not a first for a fashion house to make a department store collection with comparably bargain basement prices. Coach’s Poppy collection for this season is a great example. Designed for teens, Poppy bags are available all over and run as low as $50. Definitely. These are cute designs—hot, stylish, even a bit decadent, but they’re not in the same category as other Jimmy Choo bags we’re used to. It’s a question of material, of exclusivity (nobody is going to covet a bag you can pick up for a hundred bucks at any old H&M) and of designer vision.

Arguing that these bags are comparable to Jimmy Choo replicas but real, and cheaper is actually pretty silly to me. It’s overlooking the reasons people want elite designs in the first place. It’s kinda like arguing why would you pay $1000 for a Jimmy Choo handbag when you could have one from H&M for a hundred. A) It ain’t the same category, and B) if that’s your logic you should just go get one from H&M. They’re hot.
