The Chic Simplicity of Chanel Purses

When you read the sorted, glamorous history of Coco Chanel’s life, you almost wonder if she would have minded the worldwide spread of replica Chanel purses. Since her death in 1971, the fame, icon, and power of her name is more lauded than ever. In fact definitely the biggest thing to hit Chanel since Karl Lagerfeld is the mysterious legacy of Coco Chanel herself.

So, who was Coco Chanel? And why is her name as well known as Elvis? How did Chanel handbags come to be an empire? And would the woman who revolutionized fashion more than any other person in the 20th century feel OK about her Chanel name revolutionizing the replica purse world too? To know the answer to that one, we totally need to learn a little about the lady herself first.

Designer Chanel History

Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel was a shrewd, business savvy, fashion genius with a rebellious spirit. You don’t need to watch the Audrey Tautou movie to glean that much. From the first day Chanel opened her doors on rue Cambon in Paris, 1909, her attitude and individuality were immediately apparent. She hated the contemporary fashion that the wealthy European elite wore. Baroque, exaggerated femininity; bright colors; puffy, elaborate wigs, headdresses and jewels all struck Chanel as a failure to see the reality of the world around her. These people were living in some perverted fantasy.

While the rich were dressed up for some 19th century costume party the industrial world was churning out machinery, the First World War was breaking out, and Feminism as a movement was starting. And perhaps more than any other designer, Chanel took these political and social developments fully into consideration for her designs. As a result she re-dressed the modern world and changed our concept of the feminine forever.

Chanel Now

Today Chanel is one of the largest privately owned companies in the world. The fact that they cover every fashion angle from handbags to jewelry, gowns, ready-to-wear, to perfumes and sunglasses is less about a modern company branching out, and more about the genius of Coco herself. Chanel designed everything right from the beginning. Her talents for immediately recognizable, simple, yet totally unique styles and scents seem never ending, and her dresses were just as appealing as her purses.

It’s All in Black and White

There are probably as many black and white fake Chanel bags going around on the street below my apartment as I write this as LV Monograms. They are literally everywhere. How in the world has one single designer taken such claim over such a basic color pattern? It seems crazy but it’s true. It’s not just bags, it’s everything Chanel, and everyone immediately thinks designer Chanel when they see black and white together. That is some control!

The Chanel Purse Recipe

The positive thing about replicas for the authentic designer has always been that they spread the fame and desire for your styles beyond the highest tax bracket. This is totally true for Chanel. These days Chanel is the look of choice for fashion conscious girls in middle class families all over the US for sure, and elsewhere also. Evidently the Chanel purse recipe is as universally appealing as chocolate, or apple pie.

The allure of Chanel bags is the simplicity. They manage to communicate rebellion, sexiness, and an iconic history all in the simplest of leather bags. It’s all in the CC logo, and in the case of Chanel is not just about looking wealthy. It’s an attitude baby, and everyone carrying Chanel knows it.
